Review request emails in your own words
How Depotely asks buyers for a review after delivery, how you write the email yourself with placeholders, and why your text is treated as text and never as code.

Reviews are the cheapest marketing a marketplace seller has, and the hardest to ask for at scale. Depotely sends the request for you after delivery, in an email you wrote, from your sender name.
When it goes out
The request is sent once per order, after the order has been delivered, and only for channels where asking is allowed. Every plan sends as many as your orders require; there is no monthly cap on review or invoice emails.
Written by you
Under Email templates (Professional and Enterprise) you edit six parts: the subject, the heading, the body, the button text, the closing and the footer. Each is plain text with placeholders in double curly braces, such as the buyer's first name, the product title or the order number. Depotely fills the placeholders in and wraps the result in the shared layout that carries your sender name and your colours.
A template that uses a placeholder Depotely does not know is refused on save, so a typo cannot reach a buyer as a literal pair of braces.
Preview and test send
The editor shows a preview rendered by the same code that sends the real email, with sample data filled in, and lets you send a test to your own address. What you see is what the buyer gets; there is no second rendering path that could differ.
Your words are data, never markup
Everything you type and everything taken from an order is escaped before it is placed in the email. A buyer whose name contains an angle bracket, or a product title with an ampersand, arrives on screen exactly as written. Seller text and customer text are never run through a template engine as code; that is a well-known way to let an attacker put their own content into your emails, and Depotely closes it by design.
When a template breaks
If a stored template cannot be rendered for any reason, the send does not fail. Depotely logs the problem and falls back to its built-in Dutch review email, so the buyer still gets a request and you still get the review. You see the error in the activity log and fix the template at your leisure.
Who gets what
- A buyer gets one request per delivered order, in the language of the template you wrote.
- You get a copy of nothing by default; the test send is the way to see the email in your inbox.
- Depotely gets nothing. The reply address is yours.
What it is not
It is not a review management tool. Depotely does not read, answer or report reviews, and it does not promise an increase in your rating. It asks, politely and once, in your words.
